New ejectors for vacuum gripper systems

Vacuum generation with the new high-performance ejectors, or:
small size and minimum weight for more dynamic handling

With two new series of high-performance ejectors for energy-saving vacuum generation, the vacuum specialist J. Schmalz GmbH in D-72293 Glatten sets new worldwide standards in several respects. The compact basic ejector "Schmalz Base Pump" (SBP) weighs only a fraction of the weight of comparable ejectors and is the lightest in its class. The very compact inline ejector "Schmalz Line Pump" (SLP) weighs only 5 grams, hardly more than the piece of hose it replaces, but has an enormous suction capacity.

The new basic ejector series SBP

Lightweight components are important not only in the automotive industry, but also, and particularly, in the production and handling systems for the manufacture and assembly of parts. Every gram which can be saved, and every reduction in the size, permits even faster and more dynamic motion of such handling systems, thus reducing the times machine tools need to wait for handing of the parts and changing of the workpieces. For this reason, the new basic ejectors of the SBP - Schmalz Base Pump - series are tailor-made for use in lightweight vacuum gripper systems. The SBP - a vacuum generator with a single-stage nozzle - is available in six different power ratings with nozzle diameters between 0.5 and 2.5 millimetres. The one-piece plastic housing is robust and impact-resistant and can be mounted either on its side with the aid of threaded mounting holes or, with the aid of a base and a terminal strip, in an upright position. The compressed air and vacuum can be connected quickly and easily with the aid of push-in connections or with threaded couplings. Circuit symbols with connector assignments are printed directly on the housing to simplify correct connection. The compact shape, the low weight and the practical industrial design permit the ejectors to be mounted under all imaginable installation and operating conditions. The basic ejectors SBP can be used in feeder systems, vacuum spiders, automatic pick & place systems, separating devices for machining of metal and plastic sheets, and also for the construction of ejector blocks for the decentralised supply and individual control of suction pads.

The new inline ejectors SLP

The name of the SLP series - Schmalz Line Pump - already describes the most important property of these new inline ejectors. Ejectors cannot be made more compact and more integrated: the SLP is simply connected into the vacuum hose, thus reducing the installation time and costs and greatly reducing the system weight. Designed as vacuum generators with axial connections, the super-compact inline ejectors SLP weigh only 5 grams (!) but still offer and enormous suction capacity of 14 litres at an air consumption of only 21 litres! The SLP vacuum generators have a single-stage nozzle and are available with a nozzle diameter of 0.5 or 0.7 millimetres. The push-in connectors permit rapid connection of a 4-mm hose and the ejectors can be installed and used almost anywhere. No further connecting or mounting elements are needed, and the optimised air outlet ensures low noise levels during operation. Due to their slim design, with a diameter of only 10 mm, their low weight and their high performance, the SLP ejectors are particularly suitable for demanding applications in highly dynamic handling processes, such as vacuum spiders in automatic pick & place systems or in feeder and other handling systems.
