New product: matrix plate for metalworking machines
Vacuum clamping system for clamping metal workpieces
Schmalz has long been the world market leader in the area of vacuum clamping systems for machining of wood and plastics. The Schmalz engineers have now applied their expertise and competence in clamping technology to the development of an innovation for the metalworking area.
This new product is called the "Matrix plate" and is particularly suitable for process-safe clamping of large, flat metal workpieces with smooth lower surfaces made, for example from aluminium, titanium or stainless steel.

- Distortion-free clamping of large, flat workpieces
- High precision +/- 0.02 mm
- Short set-up times and very easy handling
- High horizontal holding forces
Application:
The new clamping systems demonstrates its advantages, in particular, in the clamping of large, flat workpieces which are difficult to clamp mechanically. Swivel clamps and vices are a thing of the past!
The matrix plate is mounted quickly and easily on the machine table (with the aid of clamping claws) and is then immediately ready for use for turning, grinding or milling of workpieces.

Safely clamped and fixed
Workpieces can be clamped securely on the matrix plate for milling, turning and grinding operations!

Further benefits:
- So-called friction pads permit machining operations which generate very high transverse forces.
- The plate can be ground or milled after mounting it on the machine table, permitting accuracies in the area of 1/1000 mm.
Construction:
- Base made from anodised aluminium
- Clamping claws for securing the plate to the machine table (optional)
- Mechanical stops to prevent the workpiece from moving
- Hose nozzles for connection of the vacuum line and for connecting several plates together
