For the handling of plastic parts immediately after injection moulding and of parts with easily marked surfaces, the vacuum specialists at J. Schmalz GmbH in 72293 Glatten have added suction pads of various sizes and shapes, made of the material HT 1, to their wide range of suction pads. This material can withstand temperatures of up to 160 °C, leaves no marks on the workpieces and is free of silicone and substances which could prevent the wetting of the parts in subsequent painting operations.
The special HT 1 suction pads are ideal for many applications which occur in the handling of hot injection-moulded or thermoformed parts. While the flat versions are particularly suitable for the handling of parts with predominantly flat surfaces, the oval versions are intended for the handling of long or cylindrical parts. The bellows versions adapt themselves well to convey or concave surfaces.
In all cases, the use of the new HT 1 suction pads ensures that no marks are left on the parts to be handled, a useful property for the handling of parts which are to be painted, coated or chrome-plated.
Apart from this, the HT 1 suction pads are extremely resistant to cracking, retain their shape over long periods and are very resistant to wear. They are also resistant to chemicals, oils and ozone. All of this means that they have a very long operating lifetime, even under rough industrial conditions, and thus that the handling devices on which they are used have a high degree of availability.
