With its special vacuum head, the vacuum tube lifter shown here can lift as many as 18 empty bottles and place them on an accumulating conveyor line. The vacuum head grips each bottle with a separate bellows-type suction pad and two plastic strips hold the bottle steady during transport. It is not necessary for all of the suction pads to be occupied by bottles. The vacuum for the suction pads is generated by an ejector mounted on the vacuum head, and is thus independent of the vacuum of the tube lifter. The task of transferring the bottles to the conveyor, which was previously a boring job for two persons, can now be carried out by a single operator.
