Just in time for the trade fair "Holzhandwerk", the vacuum specialist J. Schmalz GmbH in 72293 Glatten presents an extension to the established vacuum clamping system VC-Innospann for CNC woodworking machines – the new modular system of suction blocks for slotted machine tables with the types Mini Plate-R, Quad Base-R and suction blocks VC-R/VC-R…A (with or without lifting system). With these new suction blocks for slotted machine tables, the vacuum clamping system VC-Innospann, which is widely used in all sectors of industry, is logically extended to cover all imaginable applications. Two systems, namely the Mini Plate-R and Quad Base-R are currently available. These can be equipped as required with various suction cups and are then placed, just like the suction blocks VC-R/VC-R..A, directly on the slotted machine table, where they are immediately ready for use. This system permits maximum flexibility in the positioning of the workpieces.

The new suction blocks for slotted machine tables are designed for CNC machining centres whose tables have slots positioned on a 50 x 50 or 30 x 30 mm grid, with slot dimensions of 5 x 5 or 7 x 7 mm. Installation of the suction blocks could not be easier: they are simply placed in the existing slots on the table. The suction blocks can be adapted to the materials to be held by inserting the appropriate suction cups and the system is ready for use. If the cups or the sealing lips on the VC-R suction block become worn, they can be replaced cheaply, quickly and easily without interrupting production for a long time.

A major benefit of the suction blocks for slotted tables is that they permit all edges of the workpiece to be machined. This, in turn, means that a workpiece can be completely machined with no (or only a few) repositioning actions. Standard spacer rings for the suction blocks Mini Plate-R and Quad Base-R can be fitted easily and quickly in order to achieve the desired overall height for more complex machining of one or more edges. These spacer rings are available as accessories and are always in stock. The same applies, of course, to all other components and even complete suction blocks.

The suction blocks for slotted tables make it unnecessary to use protective MDF plates and expensive templates, since the suction blocks and cups permit direct clamping of all workpieces, even those with curved edges. This has two advantages: it saves the time previously needed for construction of the templates and also saves the space needed for storage of the templates.

With the aid of this system, CNC machining centres can be used for a wider range of applications and this, in turn, means that they can be used more intensively.
