With their very successful range of magnetic grippers, which was introduced last year, the vacuum specialists at J. Schmalz GmbH, D-72293 Glatten, have again demonstrated their excellent competence in the development of high-performance vacuum components and system solutions.
Based on the fact that it is not possible, in spite of the universal applicability and flexibility of suction pads and vacuum gripper systems, to grip and handle all sheet-metal parts reliably with vacuum, the product range "magnetic grippers SGM" is the ideal solution for the construction of gripper systems which meet all requirements.
Until now, magnetic grippers with diameters of 20, 47 and 80 mm have been available, The range has now been extended with a version with a diameter of 34 mm. The design and technology of this new magnetic gripper have been optimised, resulting in a very narrow profile, improved magnetic and holding forces and – thanks to the compact dimensions – even easier installation even in restricted spaces. A further option is that the gripper can be mounted with the aid of ball clamp, permitting better adjustment to match specially shaped workpieces and surfaces.
The magnetic grippers SGM permit the safe and reliable gripping of all ferromagnetic workpieces. The magnetic field is generated by a permanent magnet and can be switched on and off with the aid of pressure or vacuum pulses or a combination of the two. The magnetic gripes can thus be controlled, as desired, with the aid of two pneumatic valves or one compact ejector. No external voltage is needed and control of the gripper with an ejector consumes very little compressed air. The magnetic grippers SGM are ideal for the handling of solid or perforated metal sheets or of sheet-metal parts with holes or apertures or with complex shapes. Magnetic grippers are also frequently used to assist vacuum gripper systems in the very dynamic handling of sheet-metal parts.
