Vacuum generators for handing units

Handling devices for the removal of finished parts from injection-moulding machines with new solution for vacuum generation.

Vacuum generation: SCPM MiniPump

When Schmalz presented their new generation of compact ejectors "SCPM Mini-Pump" for the rational generation of the necessary vacuum, the engineers at Geiger Handling quickly saw that these ejectors had several advantages which offered their users more efficiency and, at the same time, reduced the time and costs in the production and installation of the handling units.

Previously, Geiger had used a conventional decentralised solution consisting of an ejector, separate valves and sensors, a compressed-air reservoir for the blow-off pulse.

The new solution from Schmalz with the SCPM Mini-Pump is completely different and consists of a compact ejector with integrated valve and sensor technology, including a facility for adjusting the blow-off pulse.
The ejector is mounted directly on the suction pad, resulting in considerably shorter response times and correspondingly shorter cycle times. The compact ejector with its integrated functions needs less space and is lighter, which permits the gripper designer to implement new solutions and also improves the dynamics of the handling device.

The long hoses from the vacuum generator to the gripper are no longer necessary, which means that the new system has much lower performance losses. The integrated switches permit the gripper to be enabled again immediately after the workpiece has been released.
