Vacuum components are used at various transfer stations within production lines for CDs and DVDs.

Since mechanical gripper systems can cause slight deformation of the disks, suction pads, which cause no such deformation are widely used.

The two application examples shown here use annular and semi-annular suction pads made of silicone. The annular suction pads were designed to grip the disks at the centre, around the edges of the centre hole. They can generate a far higher suction force than normal flat suction pads and also distribute the force uniformly over the surface of the CD/DVD. This higher suction force permits higher production speeds.
