The new magnetic grippers were developed especially for handling applications where the objects to be handled are not suitable for handling with vacuum grippers.

The heart of the magnetic gripper is an aluminium housing containing a permanent magnet controlled by compressed air or a vacuum. The gripping function is bistable, which means that the current state "hold" or "release" is retained even in the case of a power failure.

Our highlights:

  • Safe gripping with a magnetic field
  • Magnetic field generated by a permanent magnet
  • Switching is controlled with compressed air or a vacuum (or a combination of the two).

Your benefits:

  • Gripping of perforated plates or similar objects is possible
  • No electric voltage is needed
  • Can be controlled with the aid of an ejector with minimum air consumption

Applications:

  • Handling of perforated plates and complex, laser-cut parts
  • Can be used to assist suction pads when handling very heavy parts

Function and use:

Pneumatic operation (two connections):

The magnetic gripper is controlled via two compressed-air lines (except SGM 20).
The gripper is switched on and off by applying compressed air to one of the two connections and venting the other.

Pneumatic/vacuum operation (one connection):

Alternatively, the magnetic gripper can be controlled with the aid of a compact ejector.
When a vacuum is applied, the gripper is activated for lifting parts made of ferromagnetic materials. When compressed air is applied, the gripper is deactivated and the part is released.

You can download a video of our demonstration machine in action at the trade fair EuroBlech. This video shows a real-time film of the handling of various metal sheets with holes and apertures being handled with magnetic grippers and/or suction pads.
