Mounted on an industrial robot made by Messrs. Weinbrenner, the Schmalz vacuum spider consists of sheet-metal suction pads of the type SAB 60/80, made of hard-wearing NBR (Buna N), spring plungers of the type FSTA to compensate for uneven surfaces or varying heights and a compact ejector SMP 25 MegaPump to generate the vacuum. The suction-pad units can be moved to any desired position on the cross-beams to match the size of the workpiece. Suction pads of the type SAF 40 are also integrated into the table of the bending press to hold the metal sheets on the table if, for example, they are bent by more than 90°.
